Yung Fetti - A New Era of Memphis Hip Hop Rises!
JH Management's new music marketing client Yung Fetti is a hard hitting - in your face - new era Memphis TN. hip Hop artist that has pushed his way through the clutter and over saturation associated with Memphis's "dime a dozen - everyone can rap" bubbling scene. Fetti is a lyricist, producer, and over the top entertainer that fills seats, gets noticed, and commands the attention of press, radio, and fans.
Yung Fetti came to JH Management for music marketing advice and to learn how to assemble all the press, attention, fans, and connections earned through his "hard knocks" schooling while grinding his way through the tough Memphis urban music scene. His lyrical style talks to real folks - not at them, his music reaches beyond generations - through deep transitions of hard hitting rhythms rooted in melodic hooks, and his personality - on stage, as well as off - is nothing short of infectious.... he simply makes anywhere he is at the place to be.
Check back soon for more information about how you can get your hands on this "new era" of Memphis hip hop!
Jeremy Ledgewood in White Sands Desert for Photo Shoot

JH Management Artist Jeremy Ledgewood and crew head for the White Sands Desert in New Mexico for a photo shoot. The photos will be used for Jeremy's upcoming CD cover and page layouts. Jeremy's new CD, Reflected, is due to be released mid Feb. 2010 for a 1st quarter push. These photos are from a crew member's Blackberry.... so quality is not the highest but we wanted to share some of the cool scenes found while on the photo shoot. All went great... well... once they crew arrived in the desert. On the way the truck had a flat on a long stretch of road in the middle of the desert with nothing around accept the coyotes at 2am - no street lights in the desert - reminding them who protected the land around!

What A Consultant Does
A music consultant provides music industry information to artists, groups, and labels and shows them how to use that information to create buzz, drive sales, and increase fans. A music consultant generally does not do the work advised. A music consultants main objective is to help push a project with enough momentum to go beyond the hump of local success and through to national recognition. An artist, group, or label hiring a music consultant can only expect to get as much out of a consultants advise as they are willing to work. Meaning: hiring a music consultant and not following through or putting the effort into acting upon the advise of the consultant is simply a waste of time and money!
How A Consultant Gets Paid
Music consultants charge a set fee. They do not get paid on the back end or when an artistmakes money. This is due to the fact that the consultant does not do the actual work advised, the artist, group, or label does the actual work. Consultants charge a flat fee because they can not control the actions or inactions taken on the advise they deliver. Many up and coming artists feel that a consultant should only get paid when they do. That is the job of an artist manager. This is because an artist manager is directly responsible for managing the actions and activities of an artist ensuring an artists career is moving forward at all times. In many cases a manager will directly take the action themselves or hire then manage outside vendors to handle the work load.
What to Expect
Nothing! Hiring a Music Consultant does not guarantee you anything what so ever except that you will get the information you need to create buzz, sell more CDs, and attract fans faster. This is the music industry. There are no guarantees. If you are currently talking to a music consultant that guarantees you anything... run! Yes, good consultants know what works, most of the time, but what they really know how to do is read failures and determine what will work for your particular project. Music marketing is all about trial and error and knowing what to do next. The only way a consultant knows what to do next is by tracking efforts and looking at the results. A good consultant will have many strategies and will openly discuss the steps that will be taken and in what order they should be acted upon.
Good -vs- Bad Consultants
There are plenty of good music consultants out there. But there are just as many, if not more, bad consultants you need to avoid. What seperates a good consultant from a bad consultant is the information they have and how they use it. A good consultant will share their information with the client. They have no intention of working a project with no end in sight. A music consultant becomes more popular with each new project that succeeds. For this reason, a good music consultant will only want to work with a client for a few months at a time on each new project. A bad consultant on the other hand, will keep all information guarded and want to continue a project until the money dries up. A good consultant will have many, many pages when doing a search on google for their company or personal name with little or no negativity. A bad consultant will either have nothing show up with a google search or negative pages urging you to avoid their services.
How Long Does It Take
A typical music project takes about three months to get rolling. A good music consultant will ask for a minimum of a three month commitment from a new client. In reality, your project will take anywhere from 4 to 7 months to really get the national exposure a consultant can obtain. In most cases, an artist, group, or label should be able to "go it alone" will little supervision after about 3 or 4 months of working with a consultant on a daily or weekly basis. This does not mean you should stop utilizing your choosen consultant. It means that your costs assicialted with a consultant should go down as the project continues and you learn the ropes. After your first full project push you should have enough information to do the basicis on your own and only need to hire a consultant on an "as needed basis."
