Hip Hop Social Networking is a must-do for all Independent Hip Hop Record Labels. It is the grass roots Hip Hop marketing of old, made new. The internet is a way of reaching millions of Hip Hop listeners and fans, daily, without having to spend money on gas. I am talking about Myspace.com, Facebook.com, Hip hop forums, and Hip Hop fan sites around the internet.
Hip Hop Social Networking is not just about getting a bunch of people to sign your guest book or play your Hip Hop song on Myspace.com. Hip Hop Social Networking is about turning those Hip Hop song plays into cash; making each one of the people signing your guest book a fan, and turning those fans into Hip Hop marketing machines within your Hip Hop Social Network.
Too many Independent Hip Hop Record Labels get caught in the "I got 50,000 Hip Hop friends on Myspace.com. I am Networking and it's working." One question: What have those 50,000 Hip Hop friends done for you lately? Have they bought a CD? Have they called the Hip Hop radio station in their hometown and requested your song be added to the playlist a gazillion times? Have they asked live Hip Hop music venues when you are going to get booked for a show?
If you answered "No" to ANY of the above questions, you need help with your Hip Hop Social Networking Campaign. Hip Hop Social Networking is NOT about making friends. It is about making contacts, marketing reps, and full-time, non-paid Hip Hop street teams that work for you even when you are sleeping. Rick Ruben of Columbia Records has just said in an interview that he hired 25 college interns to handle all of his Hip Hop Social Networking duties. He went on to say the college kids have their finger on the pulse of what the Hip Hop society wants. He hired a Hip Hop Social Networking Team to keep him abreast of what is hot and what is not.
Hip Hop Social Networking is one of the things that can kill your Independent HipHop Label's name overnight. It can literally shut you down in a matter of minutes. Hip Hop Social Networking on a serious level is not for the untrained. I am not saying it is hard. It is actually one of the easiest things you can do to market your Independent Hip Hop Record Label or Artist.... If you know what you are doing and you have clear cut goals set in place.
Hip Hop Social Networking takes planning, tracking, and adjusting to be successful. You can not simply put up a Myspace page and expect folks to work for you because they like your Hip Hop music. This will happen... but not too often.
I can help you prepare a well thought out plan for correct Hip Hop Social Networking; get your staff involved with the daily upkeep, and teach you how to track your results so you can adjust your actions to better serve your needs. Hip Hop Social Networking rewards are as high as when you step on stage looking out at 50,000 screaming fans!!! It works!
